The Dynamic Island, on your Mac.
Music, meetings, AirPods, downloads and more, alive in a black pill around your notch.
Full-featured trial. One-time purchase. macOS 14 or later. Apple silicon + Intel.
Intel support: Beta — under testing
The download is the current release and includes both Apple silicon and Intel. On Apple silicon it is the stable build. Intel hardware testing is still in progress; on an Intel Mac some features, including text recognition (OCR), may not work as expected.

The island
One island. Every moment.
Music. With the words.
Artwork and a live waveform beside the notch. Open it for the full player, scrubbing and synced lyrics with word-timed holds.
AirPods. Your own pair.
Connect them and the card shows your model with a live battery ring. The lowest earbud sets the ring, so an empty bud never hides behind a full case.
Power. At a glance.
Plug in and a dimensional battery shows the level and the time to full, while one wave runs around the edge of the screen.
Meetings. Never late.
Alerts at an hour, thirty, ten, five and one minute, each with a Join button for Zoom, Meet, Teams, Webex or FaceTime.
Downloads. In a ring.
Browser downloads fill a ring beside the notch. Tap it when it is done and the file is revealed in Finder.
Face ID. For your Mac.
Look at the camera on the lock screen and you are in. The match runs on your Mac and no frame is ever recorded.
AI limits. Beside the notch.
Codex, Claude and Cursor each get a lane with what is left of your session, and a short card with one ripple when one of them needs you.
Lock screen
Music before you sign in. Three ways.
- CoverThe artwork and its controls wait in the middle of the lock screen.
- LyricsClick the cover: it slides left and synced words fill the right, over a soft wash of the artwork.
- WallpaperClick again and the cover fills the whole screen. Apple Music's motion cover plays when the album has one.
City lights are melting slow
Neon rivers, let them go
We're driving where the night is new
Every signal leads to you
Hold the moment, hold it still
Midnight's ours and always will
Your clock, your type.
In the lyrics and wallpaper views Notchland draws the date and time in Liquid Glass. Style them in Settings → Island → Lock screen clock. Try it here:
Focus Studio
Make the island your clock.
Start a large clock, countdown or work session straight from Settings. Choose the scale, brightness, number style, second transition and a bright single color—or mix a few into a luminous watercolor wash.
- Scale up to 1.75×: the island widens and the clock grows while its vertical chrome stays tucked beneath the notch.
- Clock & timer brightness runs from 25% to 150%; 100% keeps the original glow.
- Second changes stay locked to wall time; brief UI stalls are bridged instead of skipping a digit.
- Routine cards stay quiet. Security, low battery, meetings, wake/display, charging and CPU/thermal warnings can step in; simultaneous alerts and their matching edge/screen effects play one by one.
- At zero, “Time is up” stays on the island while your selected colors ripple outward for 2.8 seconds.
- Pure classic black stays the default and is always one click away. For fun, try five Basic, Metallic, Matte or Liquid Glass finishes.
Try it: combine colors, then change the size and finish. Each finish family has five choices in the Mac app.
Guide
Learn the island in motion.
The same bilingual handbook lives inside Notchland. Start with the gesture people miss most, then browse every production feature with its real macOS source.
1 · Swipe or wheel up
Open the app shelf
While the full player is open, swipe up on a trackpad or roll the mouse wheel up. Horizontal movement remains reserved for previous and next track.
Move to Home
Swipe right on the shelf or tap the Home icon. Swipe left returns to Apps; the header buttons always work too.
Use Files Tray and AirDrop
Park a file on the left and drag it back out later, or drop it on the blue side to open macOS's real AirDrop picker.
Moments
Devices arrive with a scene.
Connect AirPods and the card shows your model, with a live battery ring set by the lowest earbud and per-bud levels under the name. Your Magic Mouse and keyboard get their own films. Wired headphones get a springy glyph.
stay here while it lasts
Your music, with the words.
Compact artwork and a live waveform while you work. Click and the island opens into a full player: scrubbing, transport, a spinning 3D vinyl if you want it, and synced lyrics with word-timed holds where available. Three dots count into the first lyric and the next vocal section. Swipe horizontally to change tracks; swipe vertically to move between the player and shelf.
Meetings that cannot sneak up.
Alerts step in at one hour, thirty, ten, five and one minute, each with a Join button for Zoom, Meet, Teams, Webex or FaceTime. The optional red progress halo traces the island during the final ten seconds.

Edge Effects
Beyond the island, the whole screen reacts.
Notchland turns the display edge into a moment: Siri breathes in color, unlock sends green trails from the island, heat glows with urgency, and wake paints the frame blue-purple. Choose one to preview it.
The glow stays only while Siri is active.
Siri edge glow
A quiet, full-perimeter response without another card.
Face ID
Your face opens the Mac.
Notchland watches the built-in camera while your Mac is locked. One glance and you are in: the notch opens into a Face ID card right on the lock screen, the match runs on your Mac, and no frame is ever recorded.
Waiting at the lock screen
A scan starts on lock, on display wake and on the first pointer movement.
On-device model
OpenCV Zoo's SFace, Apache 2.0, compiled to Core ML and shipped inside the app: a 112x112 crop becomes a 128-dimension signature, matched by cosine against two templates. The camera runs only while a scan is up.
Kept in the keychain
Your enrollment and password live in the login keychain, readable only by Notchland's own code signature. macOS authentication is required before every save, and in memory the password is sealed with a key that dies with the app.
Bounded by design
Ten-second scan timeout, five attempts per lock cycle, and typing always wins: a keystroke cancels the running scan. Twenty quiet seconds restore the attempt budget.
What it is, and what it is not
- It opens an account you are already signed into, from the lock screen. It does not replace FileVault at startup, login after a restart or logout, Apple Pay, or an administrator prompt.
- It is not Apple's TrueDepth Face ID. One ordinary camera, no depth sensing: a printed photo or a replayed video stays a risk, and no security-grade false acceptance rate has been established.
- "Ask for a head turn" in Settings adds a random left-or-right turn to every unlock, the one gate here that a photograph cannot pass. It is off by default.
- Setup asks for Camera and Accessibility permission and your Mac password, and "Reset Face ID" deletes everything stored. macOS 14+, built-in camera, off until you turn it on.
Home
Home, the way you work.
Open the island and today is on the left with your next event; on the right, four buttons that do whatever you need most. Lock the Mac, snap a window to half the screen, open a site, press a key combination, run an Apple Shortcut.
Thirty-plus actions for four buttons
Symbols only on the island: a name is written when you set a button up and in its hover tip. Websites, apps, files and folders, recorded key combinations, Apple Shortcuts, window layouts, Mission Control, display sleep, Keep Awake and more.
Drop a file, get things done
Drop an image on the island to copy its text, shrink it or convert it to JPEG or PNG; drop PDFs to merge them in order. It all runs on your Mac, outputs land in Downloads/Notchland and originals are never touched.
A clipboard you can search
Up to fifty recent copies, text and images, searchable by content or app. Pin what matters and it survives a restart; everything else lives in memory only, and items marked private by password managers are never kept.
Stay with the meeting
Joining from the island starts a quiet session: elapsed time beside the notch, quick notes saved as you type, and a microphone mute only where your input device really supports it. Ending it never leaves your call.
AI
Your AI limits, beside the notch.
When Codex, Claude or Cursor is open, their marks rest in the island with a lane each: how much of your session quota is left, read from your own account. It is the quietest activity in the island, so music, downloads, timers and every alert come first. When one of them needs your approval or finishes a task, the island says so with a short card and one ripple in that app's colour.
A small unfold, not a dashboard
Closed: overlapping marks and thin lanes. Open: one tight row per app with the exact session percentage.
Remaining, not spent
Lanes show what is left of the account's rolling session window. Weekly limits and reset times stay in Settings → AI, away from the island.
Reads your own sign-in
Codex and Claude are read through the CLI sign-in already on your Mac and sent only to their provider; Cursor goes through the optional CodexBar CLI. Every connection is opt-in, and Notchland never renews or rewrites another app's credentials.
Never a guess
A missing, expired or stale reading shows a dash, not a number. If a provider reports no session quota, no other period is dressed up as one. Desktop apps are detected; browser tabs and terminal sessions are not.
Match island
Under construction
Simulation only. For now.
Live scores are switched off while we rebuild the score service, so teams can't be followed for now. Match simulation still works: turn it on in Settings → Match and a scripted match plays in your island, a minute a second, with the score beside the notch and a card and a ripple in the club's colours on every goal.
Everything
Everything it does.
Thirty-plus production behaviors with individual controls in Settings. Privacy-sensitive extras such as clipboard history, Calendar and reactive audio are opt-in.

FAQ
Questions
My Mac has no notch. Does it work?+
Yes. On notchless Macs and external displays the island floats as a compact pill near the top edge, with every feature intact.
Which permissions does it need?+
Core monitoring stays on your Mac. Calendar is used for meeting alerts, Bluetooth for device cards, and Screen Recording only for the reactive waveform. Clipboard history is off by default. Lyrics lookup and license activation make the network requests described in our Privacy Policy.
Does it drain the battery?+
It idles as a tiny native app and monitors sleep when their feature is off. When macOS enters Low Power Mode, Notchland follows automatically: reactive audio capture stops, media becomes static and continuous visual effects pause while CPU and thermal safety alerts stay active. When macOS leaves the mode, your saved Notchland choice and visual preferences return.
How do updates arrive?+
Notchland 1.x updates are included. The app checks the signed Sparkle feed automatically and lets you install each notarized release; you can also download the latest build from this page.
How does the license work?+
Lemon Squeezy emails one key after purchase. Activate it on one Mac at a time in Notchland Settings. Deactivate the old Mac before moving the key to another one.
Is it on the Mac App Store?+
No. Notchland ships as a signed, notarized download from this page. Parts of the now-playing integration are not App Store friendly, and direct distribution keeps every feature intact.
